(1) The Sound Mixer contains 4 pages:
Background: Continuous looping or sequenced sounds
Incidental: Single sounds that are set to play randomly
Tone: The entrainment tone settings
Master: Sets the master volume, fade in/out time and sequencer tempo
The VU meter at the top left shows the overall level. If this goes into the red you will hear the audio start to clip so you can either turn down individual channel volumes or just turn down the master volume.
(+) Adds a new sound channel to the background or incidental list
(Folder) Opens the sounds selection list. These are split into continuous looping, single (e.g. piano) and user (requires that you set a folder that contains your own audio files on the start page options).
(2) This section shows the mixer settings for the selected sound. For background sounds the first row has:
Modulation: Adds isochronic modulation to the sound. This can either be set to a subtle amount or if set to full will replicate the isochronic tone.
Pan: Positions the sound left or right.
For Incidental sounds the first row has:
Random: Sets how often the sound will be played. A setting of “1 in 1m” will play the sound approximately 10 times within 10 minutes.
Random Pan: If checked, when the sound plays it will appear at a different position each time in the stereo field.
The Pitch sliders change the pitch between -2 / +2 octaves.
The Low pass filter removes high frequencies from the sound and the High pass filter removes low frequencies. These can be used to tailor the sound to your liking, for instance removing some high frequencies will make it sound more distant.
(3) This section contains 4 echo effects that are shared between the sounds. Each sound can be sent to any of the units (they need to be switched on first) using the Amount sliders. The Time slider sets the period between the echo’s and Feedback is the amount of signal which is sent back in. If this is turned up it will take longer for the echo’s to decay. The ( ) button switches the unit to stereo mode and you are given an option for the stereo width. The filter switches between Low pass to the left and High pass to the right. If turned to the left more high frequency content will be filtered out of every repeating echo.
